Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory is a great classic family movie. It was made in 1971 but it never gets old. I know kids of all generations that love this movie.
I remember as a child I would watch this movie again and again, and even as an adult I love sitting down and watching this movie with my child.
I think it is every child's drean to be able to go into a candy factory and see all the cool ways candy is made. Who won't love a chocolate waterfall?
Willy Wonka runs a legendary candy factory. He has a contest and the five kids that find the golden ticket in the Wonka candy bars, he sends these out world-wide with his normal shipments of candy. He then announces the contest, and this sets off a frenzy all over the globe. Everybody buys up all the Wonka Bars they can afford. Eventually the five winners are located, and, with each being accompanied by one adult, they are given a tour of Willy Wonka's chocolate factory. All five of these children come from different backgrounds and all over the world, most are rich and spoiled and then there is Charlie, a poor boy, who was lucky enough to find the last Golden Ticket.
Gene Wilder is hilarious in his role as the goofy and slightly deranged Wonka.
I know my son has been enjoying this movie since he was 5 years old. I, myself think I first saw it when was was around 7 years old and I can still watch it again and again. This is one of my all time favorite movies. The Oompa-Loopmas are great and some of those kids get exactly what they deserve.
If you have never seen Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory I would highly recommend you get yourself a copy and watch it. Watch it with your family, it really is a great classic family movie.
