This is a new release from Microsoft. It has been around the corner for more than a year. Finally it was officially launched on November 6, 2007. There has been some slight performance upgrades to the RC release. Now we go startight to the review.

The installation process was pretty cool and completed easily. The download program asks you to install other products from the Windows Live Family. Since I was interested only in Live Writer, I chose only that. One of the sad thing is that you need to be connected to the internet to proceed. They could have given it as separate products also. But anyways, it downloaded everything and installation also completed quickly.

Using Windows Live Writer

First impression is the best impression. That is true for this product also. Interface is clean. Nice layout. You will feel like writing. The best part is that even if you are very new to the software the built in Wizards guide you through each step. The application detects your blogging software automatically. Just enter the URL and acess information. It will guide you automatically. The way it handles images in posts are also good. You can specify the folder in which images are to be put. It will automatically create a new folder and put images there. There are some minor bugs also. When you try to edit the heading, carot is not placed automatically and is creating some problems. The best part is the preview, which shows you how your post looks in your site. Just press F12. To come back to the writer window, press F11.

Compared to the options available in the marker, this application is very good. It can be used by both novice user and an advanced user. It is very user friendly. The native tagging support and ability to have the preview are also welcome features.
