My Gateway Desktop computer came with Windows Vista for its operating system. I was using Windows XP before, and all of the new computers now come with Vista. I must admit that I'm not that crazy about it. It's working OK for me, but I still prefer XP to Vista.
My computer seems to freeze up more with Vista, and the set up of Vista doesn't appeal to me as much as XP. Maybe it's just that I've gotten so used to XP that anything else seems to fall short, but I felt that I was getting better and faster performance out of XP.
My husband also claims that he doesn't like it the same as XP, and my brother-in-law, who is a computer tech, says that he feels XP is actually better than Vista. But we have been using Vista, and I'm able to get my work done and surf the web, etc. It works OK, but I just don't feel that it is giving me the performance that I was getting out of XP.
I use my computer mostly for basic things, so there are probably areas in which Vista is very strong that I have not even tapped into. But for the purposes that I do use the computer, it just seems to fall a little short of what I was getting from XP. It's still a good system, though, and maybe it just requires me to get more used to it.
