Wiseguy - Mel Profitt was Season One, Part Two of the Wiseguy TV series starring Ken Wahl that was on TV in the 1980s. Ken Wahl portrayed Vinnie Terranova, an undercover agent for the OCB whose job is to bring down the bad guys. He has to keep his family members in the dark about his secret identity. Even his mother thinks he's a gangster, which is very hurtful to him. The Mel Profitt story arc spanned a number of episodes and besides Ken Wahl, it starred Kevin Spacey, Joan Severance and William Russ. Kevin Spacey and Joan Severance are a drug-smuggling brother and sister team in this story. Vinnie really gets in over his head when he has to deal with this nutty duo.
The acting is great in this series, one of the things I always liked about it. There is a lot of action and drama, and you are kept guessing in the episodes as to what will happen next.
There are also special features, such as interviews with some of the cast members and Stephen J. Cannell, co-creator of Wiseguy. This set contains four discs with 600+ minutes of viewing time.
If you like cops and robbers-type shows but on a much larger scale, with great plots and riveting acting, you will enjoy Wiseguy - Mel Profitt.
