I have had the Wustof classic Knife Block set for about seven years now. I do a lot of cooking and my knives are by far my most treasured kitchen utensil. They are frequently used by professional chefs. They are very comfortable to hold and use. They hold a very sharp edge. I so have my knives professionally sharpened about every six months to ensure they remain in good condition. I never place them in the dishwasher, I always hand wash them, so I cannot attest to how well they hold up in the dishwasher.
My personal favorite is the Santoku knife. If a person wanted to purchase just one knife, instead of the entire set this is the one that I would reccomend. It is very versatile, makes great clean cuts and can be used in many different capacities.
