The Yankee Candle Company is widely known for scented candles, candle accessories and fragrances for the home. Now, the company is selling candle scented lip balm for your lips. They are really cute! The lip balm looks like a miniature Yankee Candle Housewarmer candle jar. The little plastic jar is approx. 1 15/16" tall and contains .14oz. of lip balm. It's made in the USA.
When choosing a lip balm, I look for those with natural ingredients and sunscreen protection. Yankee Candle lip balm has natural beeswax and organic emollient oils to help lips stay soft, smooth and healthy. It has SPF 15 to protect lips from the harmful effects of the sun.
The lip balm is available in flavors of Black Cherry, Buttercream, Cafe Au Lait, Christmas Cookie, Cinnamon & Sugar, Juicy Watermelon, Pomegranate Fruit, Root Beer Float, Sparkling Cinnamon, Sparkling Vanilla, Spiced Pumpkin, Sweet Strawberry, Vanilla Cupcake, and Vanilla Lime. They retail for $3.99 each. Visit Yankee Candleonline for new flavors available.
After purchasing a buttercream flavored lip balm, I couldn't wait to try it. The lip balm looked easy to open with a simple twist and turn, but I had problems opening the seal. The vinyl label covers the area where the top and bottom of the jar fits together. Since the list of ingredients is on the label, I wasn't happy about having to remove it to get the top off. With the label removed, it's an ugly see-through jar with lip balm inside.
To apply, you twist the bottom of the jar to raise the lip balm. The lip balm is wider than most lipsticks, so it's not easy to apply neatly, especially around the corners of your mouth. When applying the lip balm, it's not as smooth as I expected. The flavor buttercream tastes like real buttercream frosting, but it doesn't last long.
Although the packaging on Yankee Candle lip balms is cute, the lip balm did not meet my expectations for quality and ease of use. I'm sure there will be some who really like this product, but it just didn't work for me.
