The Z-Line Gemini L-Desk is the ideal home or home office desk for a variety of factors including the value and durability.

First off, the cost is quite good for the quality you get. Yes, this is a desk you have to assemble, but it's very sturdy, very well designed for heavy use, has a lot of area, and is visually appealing. Similar priced desks from discount department stores are often of much poorer quality. I have used my desk for at least 12 hours a day for nearly 2 years and there have been no structural problems with this desk.

Construction is fairly easy, though there is lots of screwing to be done so you will almost certainly need to take a break to keep your hand from cramping up. The "main" part of the desk and "side" part of the desk are assembled independently, then attached to create the L shape. Each one is individually easy to assemble, but reaching some of the screws when attaching them can be hard.

Strictly speaking, any of the parts of the desk can be left off. The shelf on the back part of the desk doesn't need to be attached, and the side desk (the part with the slide out keyboard tray) can be left off and recently I've had these two desks in different locations, though it does make the desk a little less stable.

After using a mouse on it sans mousepad for nearly two years you can visibly see where it has marred the surface of the desk but I am not so concerned about cosmetics. Overall I find this desk to be very large, sturdy, well designed, and a great value for the price. If I ever have to get rid of my current desk I plan on getting another one of these.
